At this year’s E3, Nintendo ha cancelled its press conference and replaced it with a series of Nintendo Directs fed directly to your computer so that you could directly watch the reveal take place. This idea was also copied by Square Enix who this year has also used the method of live streaming content in a Nintendo Direct way at the E3.
The first Nintendo Direct supposed to be held at 7 AM PDT has ended and now we know mostly what Nintendo has planned for the fate of the Nintendo Wii U. Many people had problems with the E3 Nintendo Direct for which Nintendo has sincerely apologized on Facebook.
Here is the apology from Satoru Iwata, CEO of Nintendo, on Facebook.
Or just watch it on my blog 😛
The Nintendo Direct started out with a demonstration of the upcoming Pokémon X and Y! Hold onto your seats as I tell you that the new game is going to shake up the type effective chart! A new power type is being introduced, a power type which is super effective against Dragon Pokémon! This power type is Fairy.
The new Pokémon Sylveon is of this power type and this power type will also be retro actively classified on older Pokémon as well! Marill, Gardevoir and Jigglypuff will also demonstrate “Fairy” powers!
In other news, a virtual pet like system called as Pokémon-Amie! It helps you to strengthen your relation to your Pokémon even further! Imitating your Pokémon’s facial expressions via the 3DS camera or stroking them via touch screen will help you in this aspect!
Here is the video in which more gameplay video was also demonstrated! The cities look huge and the battles look more impressive than before!
The Nintendo CEO, Satoru Iwata went on to state how the Nintendo team was pleasantly surprised to see artistic masterpieces hitting the Miiverse when drawing integration was implemented and thus to foster this creativity, a new version of Art Academy would be coming out on the Wii U! The game is not ready yet so for now, they are releasing a drawing add-on for the Miiverse! This will offer a variety of pencils, colour pencils, oil pastels, crayons and a lot more options! This add-on will be arriving onto the Wii U eShop soon as a purchasable add-on for Miiverse!
In the next news, the 3D Mario that we had all been waiting for was finally revealed. Unlike many people expected, the game is NOT a sequel to the Super Mario Galaxy series or a game like Super Mario Sunshine. The game is called Super Mario 3D World, which can be seen from the title sounds pretty similar to Super Mario 3D Land. The game is indeed similar to Super Mario 3D Land in the way it plays
The game features 4 playable character, Mario, Peach, Luigi and Toad. This game will feature competitive and cooperative aspects! The game supports upto 4 player co-op!
The game also introduces a cat suit, a feline suit that helps Mario and friends to slash enemies, climb objects and much more! The game comes out in December 2013.
Here is the trailer:
After this game we were revealed to the world of Mario Kart 8. Bikes are making a re-entry in this game and the game features highly upgraded graphics compared to Mario Kart Wii and Mario Kart 7! The game features underwater and aerial racing like Mario Kart 7 and the stunts featured in Mario Kart Wii but has a unique feature! The game will have some anti-gravity features in the cart enabling upside down racing and lead to unique 3D Kart designs.
The game will have Miiverse integration and using an app called Mario Kart TV, you will be able to share your videos with your friends on Miiverse!
The downside is that the game will NOT be released in 2013 but in spring 2014!
Here is the trailer:
We were also told about the games Wii Fit U and Wii Party U which have been both delayed and will not be arriving to your Wii Us’ this summer but only in late 2013!
We were shown all the 3rd party games coming to Wii U in a massive trailer with footage of each mashed up into one long sequence! Games such as Ubisoft: Watch_Dogs, Warner Bros: Batman – Arkham Origins, Ubisoft: Assassin’s Creed 4, Square Enix: Deus Ex – Human Revolution Director’s Cut, Sega: Sonic Lost World, Scribblenauts Unmasked, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist, etc!
The Wii U eShop titles were also shown in the same manner!
You might have also been told about an upcoming game which is being secretly developed by Retro Studios. The game was finally revealed in the E3 Nintendo Direct! The game is Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze!
This game is the first HD outing of Donkey Kong and will feature a new enemy: Vikings! Vikings have overtaken Donkey Kong’s island and he with the help of a new ally, Dixie Kong, must get it back! The game will be released in November 2013!
The rest of the Nintendo Direct article will be continued in Part 2! This article was becoming too long and having too many videos so I cut it into 2 bits 😀
I also wanted to extend the tension and the suspense! Mwuahaha!
Go over to Part 2 to see even more great games!
